Friends and Family of Jim Donald

This award was established through the generosity of the friends and family of Jim Donald. Jim began his career at Georgian in 1984 and retired in 2019, dedicating 35 years to supporting students to gain the skills and credentials to move forward in their educational and employment goals.

As the first and (at the time) only full-time employee at the John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus, his leadership was instrumental in helping the campus grow. At the time of his retirement, Jim was the coordinator for Academic and Career Preparation at the college.

His commitment to student success, particularly in academic upgrading, positively influenced thousands of learners over the years. Beyond his direct student support, Jim contributed significantly to curriculum development, committee leadership, conference presentations, and program renewal, creating an enduring legacy of innovation, academic excellence, and community impact.

Jim Donald Memorial Award
The Award is presented to a full-time student who has participated in Georgian College’s Academic and Career Preparation program and who is in their first semster of a skilled trades program. The recipient will demonstrate financial need and demonstrate academic good standing (GPA of 60% or higher).
