Gordon Canning

Gordon Canning graduated in 1965 from Queens University. Although he graduated from Mathematics he went on to be President and CEO of Blue Mountain Resorts Limited for almost 40 years. Without financial support in the form of bursaries from the Atkinson Foundation and the Government of Canada he would not have been able to attend Queens. Mr. Canning gives because of his personal experience and his belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to have a higher education regardless of their financial background.

Mr. Canning urges students to work hard, be passionate, be a team player, and have fun.

This award is presented to a student enrolled in any Hospitality, Tourism or Recreation program at the Barrie, South Georgian Bay or Owen Sound Georgian College campuses. The recipient demonstrates financial need and academic merit (65 per cent or higher).
