Ontario Provincial Police Association
The Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA) represents civilian and non-commissioned uniform members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Members of the OPPA provide policing services to 324 Ontario communities across a million square kilometers of land and 100,000 square kilometers of waterways. The OPPA Award was originally founded in 2001 as the Thomas B. O’Grady Scholarship and was renamed in 2008. Important attributes for a successful career in policing include leadership and interpersonal skills. This award supports students working toward a career in law enforcement.
This award is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated a combination of academic leadership and interpersonal skills, which would best compliment a police career.
