Operation Hero
Operation Hero Scholarship
Presented to a past or present member of the Canadian Armed Forces, or a dependent or spouse of serving or past members of the Canadian Armed Forces in any post-secondary program at Georgian College who has demonstrated involvement within their community. Students must demonstrate financial need and be a permanent resident of Ontario.
Please note that this scholarship is paid out in two instalments. The second instalment is awarded to the recipient(s) in their second semester. The recipient(s) must remain in good academic standing and be enrolled in the same program they received the scholarship for. Previous recipients will be invited to re-apply for the scholarship in each year of their program. They will be required to submit an application form along with a cover letter indicating how the funds they were awarded assisted them and how they could benefit from receiving the scholarship again. The student must remain in good academic standing, frequent or multiple switches, drops, withdrawals and/or repeats of programs may be considered lack of academic progress and direction.

Honouring service and sacrifice through the Operation Hero Scholarship program
Operation Hero scholarships are available for each year of study; each scholarship (up to a max. of three annually) have been named in honour of the following distinguished individuals:
First year | Private Kevin McKay Scholarship
Member of the 1st Battalion, Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry. Killed in action May 13, 2010. Recipient of the General Campaign Star – South-West Asia, Sacrifice Medal (Posthumous).
Second year | Sapper Brian Collier Scholarship
Member of the 1st Combat Engineer Regiment. Killed in action July 20, 2010. Recipient of The Sacrifice Medal, The Chief of Defense Staff Commendation.
Third year | Major-General Richard Rohmer Scholarship
World War 2 Veteran, recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. The Honorary Lieutenant-General of the Canadian Armed Forces, member of Toronto law firm Rohmer & Fenn, award-winning author, Rohmer is an honorary degree recipient from Georgian in 2019. He was also appointed a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour by the President of France in 2004.
