Rex Maguire

This award was established in memory of Donna Maguire, RN, BScN, CON ©. Donna, a lifelong Barrie resident, was a primary nurse in oncology at RVH and was dedicated to furthering her education throughout her life and demonstrated a commitment to excellence in patient care. In 1986 Donna graduated from Georgian College’s Practical Nursing program as an honour student. Donna continued her education at York University and graduated in 2007 obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honours. Donna also attended the University of Toronto for her Master of Nursing, but due to illness, was a practicum short.

Presented to a student in their final year of the Honours Bachelor of Science – Nursing program at Georgian College. The recipient demonstrates academic excellence (80 per cent or higher), a dedication to education, and is committed to excellence in patient-centred care. The recipient is committed to starting their career in Simcoe County after graduating.

Applicants must clearly state why they chose nursing as a career and why patient care is important to them.
