Captain Robert Hull Memorial Scholarship for Second Year Marine Technology - Navigation

Presented to a student who is enrolled in his or her second year of the Marine Technology – Navigation program who demonstrates leadership potential, strives to do his or her best with his or her studies (not necessarily the top marks), endeavours to tutor, mentor, support and encourage other students and has a great respect for the profession. The recipient can also benefit from the financial assistance.
Captain Robert Hull was a member of the first graduating class of the Marine Navigation Technology program at Georgian College, Owen Sound Campus. When he graduated in 1976, he was awarded the Board of Governors gold medal for academic excellence. He sailed with Misener Transportation as an officer and master, Harrison Clyde of Scotland, was shore safety superintendent with Misener Shipping then sailed as master with Great Lakes Bulk Carriers. In 1991 Robert assumed the role of being a full-time professor of Navigation at Georgian College. An opportunity arose and for 20 years served as a marine pilot with the Great Lakes Pilotage Authority in District 2 and 3. Robert assisted many students as a teacher/tutor and loved guiding these aspiring officers into reaching their goal with confidence. Robert was someone who was always concerned for the safety and welfare of others.
