The Dan Matthews Award

Established by the Ontario Snow Resorts Association, this Award is presented to a student in a two year diploma program or a three year advanced diploma within the Hospitality, Tourism and Recreation academic area. Students must demonstrate financial need and good academic standing, as well as demonstrate a genuine passion for a future career in the alpine and cross country ski, snowboarding, and snow tubing sector (by way of a statement of interest outlining extracurricular, volunteer and employment activities). The Award is presented in memory of Dan Matthews who passed away in 2008. Dan was engaged in the ski industry for close to 40 years and was a pioneer in developing the first ski area management course in Canada at Humber College in 1973.
